The Lakes District regional final of the SGCNZ Otago University Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival was held on Saturday 28 March at Rotorua Lakes High School. John Paul College entered two 15 minute teams (Year 11 and Year 12/13) and one 5 minute performance. All teams performed with impact.
The John Paul College student directed 5 minute scene jointly directed by Zoe Spence and Rebecca Colby won Best 5 minute student directed.
John Paul College 15 minute The Tempest received Best understanding of text and runner up (2nd) place in the festival.
Most promising actor was Gus Dube and Best Under 16 actor was Daniel Towers.
The senior Drama class travelled to the national festival held at Wellington College at Queen’s Birthday weekend so as to support our 5 minute team of Sam Mickleson, Steven Glyde, Cayley Nel, Rebecca Colby and Zoe Spence.
Well done to all our fine actors who participated in what was a fun Festival.
